VolkerHighways completed a three-week resurfacing project, to improve the quality of roads across Bedfordshire, on behalf of Central Bedfordshire Council.
The resurfacing works were required due to the existing surface being beyond the point of repair, requiring a full plane and inlay surfacing solution to be undertaken. The team worked closely with the council to offer the best value for money. This included accelerating the programme by increasing outputs to complete more works in a shift and undertaking joint site inspections with the council to re-evaluate the amount of iron work that needed relaying. This provided cost savings and enabled the programme to be delivered more quickly than planned.
Once the original programme was completed, an additional scheme along Queen Street, Stotfold, was awarded to the business.
