The event was held at Luton Hoo, compered by Olympian Mark Foster and included a live performance by singer Chanelle Jordan. Individuals, groups and businesses were recognised for the important contributions they make to the town.
Peter Hyde, VolkerHighways managing director, presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Declan Duggan, an individual whose determination, commitment and desire for justice led him to start Duggan's Law Campaign, following the loss of his son Kevin in a road traffic accident caused by a drunken driver.
Peter said: "Declan is an inspiration to all around him; his determination in pushing this campaign forward has shown how one individual can change outdated laws and save lives."
He added: "It is an honour to be a part of an event that celebrates the amazing work and achievements of the local community, especially as VolkerHighways has been working in the community, maintaining and improving the highways in Luton for the last 17 years."
