Now in their 62nd year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations which have demonstrated their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the previous calendar year. The awards also recognise organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work.

This year, VolkerHighways received its fourth International Safety Award with Merit. VolkerRail received its sixth consecutive International Safety Award with Distinction and VolkerFitzpatrick received a Pass, for its Stansted Airport and Essoldo House project, and a Merit for its CP6 Renewals team – Anglia.

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, said: “The British Safety Council commends VolkerWessels UK on their achievement. These awards are in recognition of their commitment and their efforts to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.”

Commenting on VolkerHighways’ achievements, Jason Convey, senior HSEQS manager at VolkerHighways, said: “This award demonstrates a tangible commitment to the highest health and safety standards and wellbeing of our employees, stakeholders and the communities in which we work. Everyone involved should be proud of their efforts and the business is a worthy winner of this prestigious award.”
