Milton Bryan is a traditional Scout campsite, located in the heart of Bedfordshire. Along with seven acres of open camping fields, the site features a large pond and campfire circle, making it popular with local Scout groups. The site is also used by Ampthill and Woburn District Scout Council, who hold regular camps throughout the year.

Whilst working on our HTMC contract with Luton Borough Council, VolkerHighways has become an active part of the Bedfordshire community. So when some of our facilities were no longer required on-site, we donated them to be repurposed by the Scouts.

A mobile site office has now become a Scout Warden’s office and is being used for meetings. A toilet block is being used by campsite supervisors and a container is home to the Scouts’ go karts and archery equipment.

An average of 2000 children use the Milton Bryan campsite along with approx. 200 adult supervisors. An additional 800 children from local schools also use the space to do their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards.

Steve Calder, district chairman of Ampthill and Woburn District Scout Council said: “We rely on the support of the business community to help us deliver affordable Scouting to all. Thank you once again for your support. It is much appreciated and much used.”
