Now in their 63rd year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations which have demonstrated their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the previous calendar year. The awards also recognise organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work.

This year, VolkerHighways received its fifth continuous International Safety Award with Merit for its Luton Highways Term Maintenance contract. The award reflects the businesses’ commitment to health, safety and wellbeing during 2020, a year like no other.

Christopher Jarry, health and safety manager for VolkerHighways, said: “To be awarded our fifth International Safety Award with Merit by the British Safety Council is testament to our teams who are committed to the highest levels of health, safety and wellbeing and who lead by example every day. This is a great achievement by all involved and especially well deserved after such an unprecedented year.”
