Medway Council has been awarded the most improved performer for public transport, walking and cycling award, as well as being in the top five most improved performers for highways, tackling congestion and road safety at yesterday’s National Highways and Transport Conference 2014.
VolkerHighways has been providing highways services and carrying out highways improvement schemes in Medway for the past seven years.
The National Highways and Transport (NHT) conference releases the annual public satisfaction survey results. The survey measures public satisfaction with highways and transport services for Highways Authorities across the UK. This year’s conference was attended by Robert Goodwill, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport, who also presented the awards.
Phil Moore, head of highways and parking services at Medway Council said: “A special note should be made of VolkerHighways' role in the efficiency tables and the public perception survey as generally it is their employees who are the forward facing image of Medway. It is through our contract with VolkerHighways that we have been able to prove ourselves.”
Andy Scotter, contracts manager at VolkerHighways said: “This is a fantastic achievement and we are proud to be supporting the Council to continuously provide improving services to the people of Medway.”
