Since October 2021, VolkerSmart Technologies has been supporting Liberty Charge with the installation and maintenance of on-street electric vehicle charge points, which are being installed within residential streets with signposted parking bays.

The past year has seen the team deliver over 300 electric vehicle charge points across 200 sites. This gives those who do not have access to a driveway the ability to charge their vehicle using an on-street charger, close to their homes.

VolkerSmart Technologies’ maintenance service provides routine and reactive maintenance, and yearly electrical inspections. This involves cleaning, inspecting and testing the feeder pillars, cleansing and decontaminating the charging cables and testing the power outlet and radiofrequency identification. The yearly tests ensure that the chargers are still safety compliant and certified.

In addition, the team provides an emergency callout service and is committed to getting the chargers back online within four to 24 hours, depending on the fault.

So far, the chargers have been installed in Waltham Forest, Northampton, Croydon, Wandsworth and Hammersmith and Fulham. Currently, the team is installing 24 chargers in Ealing.

This is a very exciting time for the electric vehicle charging industry and we look forward to further collaboration with Liberty Charge.”

Neil Isaacson, CEO Liberty Charge, said: “After a year of partnership, we’re thrilled to continue working with VolkerSmart Technologies, to ensure the much-needed roll out of public electric vehicle charging infrastructure that is safe, convenient to use and accessible to all. It is only through partnership and collaboration that this can be achieved.”
